Her brother, Bumblestripe I think coped better because he was too busy padding after Dovewing, but Blossomfall would have felt pretty alone. She told Ivypool that she was jealous of Briarlight, and felt guilty for that, and thought she deserved to be in the Dark Forest.
As a kit, he was kit-napped by ShadowClan when Brokenstar was leader. He was returned though, but if you look at family, his has been through some trauma. His mother Frostfur stayed behind when the Clan left for the journey to the lake territories, his sister Brightheart was ravaged by dogs as an apprentice and was given the warrior name of Lostface, which devastated Thornclaw. My guess is he must have been friends with Swiftpaw, and was devastated when he died.
This is the same with Ashfur; he was mentioned as close friends with the tom. He also almost died of greencough, and he had four apprentices Sootfur, Shrewpaw, Poppyfrost and Briarlight. Sootfur was killed by a badger, Shrewpaw was hit by a twoleg monster, and Briarlight broke her spine. Only Poppyfrost really had a good life with a mate and kits.
Poor Thistleclaw, thinking he cannot mentor properly. I think he agreed to be trained so he could protect his family better and train his apprentices to survive. Birchfall: As a kit, he lost both of his sisters, Hollykit and Larchkit, and his earliest memory would be ThunderClan starving in the forest territories. As you can imagine, he was fussed over by his mother Ferncloud, because he was the only surviving kit of that litter.
His mentor was Ashfur as an apprentice, so you can imagine the grief when he died. Birchfall was aware that Ivypool was always acting a little nervous and secretive in her sleep, but he never questioned it. He awlways believed he was doing the right thing, along with Blossomfall and Mousewhisker.
He always believed he was doing the right thing until the Dark Forest finally told the clan cats what the real scheme that is. Birchfall was terrified but didn't speak out, which was a wise decision, because Brokenstar had threatened to kill anyone who didn't agree. In the end, Birchfall kept his unwavering loyalty to his clan, and was delighted when the clans won. Then why has he been training in the Dark Forest? Redwillow appears, in a fight with Dawnpelt.
Dawnpelt: Mouse-brain! What are you doing? Snowbird: Redwillow? Shredtail: Yes. Redwillow: Abandoning Dawnpelt. Yes, Shredtail? Redwillow: Great!
I can fight properly at last. You were right- the Clans are weak and lazy. She pins him down. Blackstar: Appearing. Stop, Snowbird. Your time is over, old cat. Lionblaze: Now! He leaps but is attacked by another cat. The cat is quickly plucked off by the roaring badger, Midnight. Midnight: Whispering. Destiny is the choice of every cat. Ivypool: Thank you! Ivypool races quickly through the trees and ends up at the WindClan border. Ivypool: Birchfall? Tigerheart: Ivypool? Ivypool: Tigerheart! Where are you headed? Tigerheart: Hawkfrost told me to meet him there. Ivypool: Are you in his patrol? Tigerheart: Are you?
Tigerheart: Hawkfrost will tell you what to do when he gets here. Wait- where are you going? Ivypool: Of course I know who to fight! Tigerheart: I thought the Dark Forest warriors were your Clanmates now.

I had to let you work it out for yourselves. We should have guesses earlier what was going on. Blossomfall: So what do we do?
Ivypool: We join the battle, just as ordered- but we fight for the Clans. We know Dark Forest tactics- we can use them against them. Do I smell- Applefur? Applefur and Breezepelt race past them, along with Thistleclaw and Snowtuft. Breezepelt: Come on! Ivypool: Hawkfrost told us to meet him. Thistleclaw: Oh, you will. Whispering to Birchfall. Blossomfall: Hurry! We have to get there first! Applefur: When do we attack?
Thistleclaw: When the first patrol has weakened them. Thistleclaw: Wait! Hawkfrost's patrol attacks from the other side. Thistleclaw charges into the camp followed by a whole patrol. Ivypool blocks Applefur. Ivypool: Wait! You're not going to fight on their side, are you? Applefur: But I have to! Ivypool: You have to defend your Clan! Isn't death better than having Brokenstar as your leader? You are still a warrior, and the warrior code says we should lay down our life for our Clanmates.
They have never needed us more than they do now! Applefur: You're right. My life is a small price to pay considering what I've done. Ivypool: There's no time for guilt now.
Fight loyally, and with courage- that's all that your Clan asks of you. Applefur: Then that is what I will give them! Ivypool: Me too! Let's- Breezepelt, no! She tackles Breezepelt away from a WindClan warrior he was attacking. Breezepelt: Are you crazy? This is what we've been training for, mouse-brain!
Ivypool: You can't believe this is right! She is attacked. Thistleclaw: Traitor! Ivypool: I'm no traitor! I only came to the Dark Forest to find out what you were planning!
I've always been loyal to my Clan-to all the Clans, over you! Birchfall: We won't fight for you either! Applefur: I fight for the Clans! Hawkfrost: Then we shall kill you first, before your wretched Clans! They fight briefly. Tigerheart: Ivypool! Ivypool: Do I have to fight you, too?
Tigerheart: I'm a warrior! I fight for the Clans. Dark Forest warriors don't belong here. This is Clan territory! Ivypool: Then why were you in the Dark Forest? Tigerheart: Same as you. I wanted you know what they were up to.
Thistleclaw: But you're Tigerstar's kin! Tigerheart: That doesn't mean I have to be like him. He almost destroyed ShadowClan once- I wasn't going to let him do it again! Hawkfrost: I'll finish this traitor off.

Birchfall leaps into the hollow, followed by Blossomfall and Mousewhisker. Jayfeather: Briarlight! Get back in the herb store! Firestar: Birchfall! How could you betray us? Ivypool: He did! He fought with me at the WindClan camp! Birchfall: We would never betray ThunderClan! We came to warn you!
Blossomfall: We saw the Dark Forest cats! Thistleclaw races into the camp. Thistleclaw: Traitors! We lost the WindClan camp thanks to you!
Birchfall: Not if I kill you first, Thistleclaw! You tricked us! Dark Forest warriors enter the camp as Birchfall and Thistleclaw fight. Firestar: Guard the nursery! Ferncloud: Brightheart! Mousefur: Darkstripe! Darkstripe hits her away. Cinderheart and Dovewing attack him.
