What was Robb thinking? Robb tries to get Harrenhal, and he also tries to get to Casterly Rock, and yet somehow he doesn't quite accomplish either.

He tried to pressure Tywin, but he didn't really do anything except for anger the Lannisters against his sisters. He also just paves the wave for the Lannister army to help at King's Landing with the Battle of the Blackwater. Because of this, the Lannisters wasted no time at Harrenhal - and they won against Stannis.

Robb's half attempts really just made it worse for everyone. Robb is the young wolf, and he's known for being honorable, loyal, and kind. These traits separate him from other leaders, yet he still falls into the same power-hungry and angry mistakes that the others make.

From executing Lord Karstark, to sacrificing 2, men to capture Jaime, to kind-of-totally forgetting about his sisters, Robb's generosity is confusing - but he's also inherently selfish. This hypocritical dynamic is definitely what makes the least sense about Robb Stark. It is Robb that discovers the Direwolf Mother and pushes to be allowed to take the wolf pups back to the castle. Robb is present for the arrival of King Robert Baratheon and his entourage to Winterfell. He is presented before the king as the heir to Winterfell. Jon believes that Robb grows as a man after the fall of Bran and the subsequent coma that he enters.

He becomes more commanding. Robb informs Jon that their uncle, Benjen Stark , is waiting for him in the stables. Robb offers to help Maester Luwin decide on who will fill the posts left vacant by his father's departure. He tells his mother of how his youngest brother follows him around. He offers to travel south and kill Ser Jaime Lannister when his mother tells him that she believes he may have harmed Bran. Instead Catleyn herself goes south to talk with Ned. Bran also notices the change in Robb, ascribing him the name 'Robb the Lord'.

While the show toned this aspect down, it amped up the drama in other ways, such as including Robb's pregnant wife, Talisa, whereas in the books the woman he married - Jeyne Westerling - isn't present. These differences don't impact the overall outcome too much - Robb and Catelyn both dead, and the Northern Rebellion stopped in its tracks - but some of the subtleties in them do make for interesting reading. In the books, however, Robb's last words are "Grey Wind," the name of his loyal direwolf who is also killed at the Red Wedding, with his head later sown onto Robb's body.

While this may seem fairly innocuous at first, it does pair up with another theory. The commonly held belief surrounding Jon Snow's resurrection in the books is that he has warged into his direwolf, Ghost, and that's how he'll eventually be brought back.
